Follow Wake Her Up!

This is our story

Wake Her Up was founded in summer of 2022 after a video Marcella Hill posted on TikTok went viral. In her video she shared how she was experiencing symptoms like irritability, body aches, and low libido. Desperate for answers, she followed a friend’s recommendation to visit a hormone therapy clinic. What happened next changed everything. Within 2 weeks of HRT, she didn’t just feel better — she awakened to herself again.

When she woke up to 11 million views, an astounding truth emerged. She was not alone. Millions of women are suffering in silence, their symptoms are being dismissed, and their pain is being normalized. Women needed help!

Marcella’s story quickly transformed into a movement. She formed a Facebook group offering support and community, and she spun up a website including a directory of HRT providers who would listen. Today, Wake Her Up is a lifeline to thousands of women, offering community, medical connections to HRT providers, education, and access to the best support products on the market.

This isn’t just about managing symptoms — it’s about reclaiming power. Wake Her Up allows women to rediscover their vitality and their right to thrive.

It’s time to wake up! If something is missing, it’s probably YOU!

Marcella Hill — Founder & CEO of Wake Her Up

Marcella Hill has been a passionate entrepreneur since selling her first box of Girl Scout cookies at age 10. She went on to found successful global brands like Peek-a-Boo Stuff and Love Woolies—but her most meaningful work began with a breakdown she didn’t see coming.

At 38, Marcella felt completely disconnected—numb, exhausted, and dead inside. After being diagnosed with a prolapsed uterus, she was told a partial hysterectomy would fix everything and her hormones wouldn’t be affected. But within a year of surgery, she felt like she was unraveling—and nearly blew up her life trying to make sense of it all.

In search of answers, Marcella began writing about her midlife spiritual awakening, which became her first book, Wake Her Up. At the time, she had no idea she was going through perimenopause. But after discovering hormone therapy through a private clinic, everything changed. Within a week, she felt like she had stepped into a brand new body. She went from barely walking to running again. From resentment to deep intimacy. From fatigue to fire.

When she shared her story on TikTok in 2022, it went viral overnight—over 9 million views and a tidal wave of comments from women saying, “Thank you for waking me up.” That’s when she realized this wasn’t just her story—it was our story. The book Wake Her Up became more than a memoir. It became a movement.

Seeing millions of women searching for answers and struggling to find support, Marcella created what didn’t exist: a trusted, community-sourced directory for hormone therapy and a space where women in midlife could find real help, real talk, and real hope.

Today, as the founder and CEO of Wake Her Up, Marcella leads a global movement to transform how we navigate perimenopause and menopause. She’s built a following of over 1 million, has been featured on Oprah, NBC News, and more, and continues to inspire through speaking, storytelling, and community-building.

Marcella lives in Utah with her husband and three children. Her mission is clear: to help women stop fading and start living fully awake—and to build a future where our daughters never have to feel crazy or alone in their bodies.

Lead Community Coordinator

Hi! I’m a wife, mom, preschool teacher, and proud volunteer with my local historical society. I love spending time with family, gardening, hiking, and recently started paddle boarding (still learning, but loving it!).

My hormone journey began at 37, though I didn’t realize it at first. I felt emotionally numb, disconnected, and overwhelmed by symptoms like hot flashes, insomnia, anxiety, joint pain — and the scariest part: intrusive thoughts. I didn’t feel like myself. I was just surviving.

Over 14 years, I saw six doctors. My symptoms were often dismissed. I tried everything — supplements, herbs, birth control, antidepressants — but nothing truly helped.

Then I found Marcella’s TikTok. For the first time, someone described exactly what I was going through. I found a functional doctor who helped uncover underlying issues, then started working with a hormone specialist. After beginning bioidentical testosterone therapy, everything changed.

By my second dose, the fog lifted. I had energy, joy, and hope again — it truly saved my life.

Three years into BHRT, I still adjust my treatment as needed, but I feel strong, grounded, and fully alive. As an admin of the Wake Her Up Facebook group, I’m passionate about helping other women feel seen, heard, and supported. You are not alone — there is help and there is hope.

Suzanne Laughlin, Texas

Community Admin Team

Hi, I’m Suzanne — wife, mom, grandmother, Texas farm girl, and passionate advocate for women in midlife. But before stepping into this role, I was like so many others: silently struggling with a body that no longer felt like mine.

In my 30s, I went from gym rat to barely functioning in months—gaining weight, feeling exhausted, and dismissed by doctors who told me to “eat better” and “exercise more.” For decades, I battled symptoms that were chalked up to “just aging” until a urogynecologist introduced me to estrogen therapy. That opened the door to BHRT, and just before turning 49, I received my first testosterone pellet. Within weeks, everything changed—energy, mood, sleep, libido, and confidence returned. It was like someone flipped a switch and handed me back to myself.

I had assumed midlife meant fading away. I was wrong. I wasn’t fading—I was waking up.

That awakening led me to the WAKE HER UP community, where I found thousands of women rising together. I started sharing my story, became an Admin, and now support women as a certified menopause coach and health coach with Joi Women’s Wellness.

At 52, I’m living my best, most powerful years. And I’m here to remind you: midlife is not the end. It’s your beginning. We’re not just “going through the change.” We ARE the change.

Kate, 44, Delaware

Admin & Registered Nurse

Kate is married to her high school sweetheart, Eric, and together they’re raising two college-aged daughters. In their early 40s, both Kate and Eric began to experience the effects of declining hormones. Despite being told by multiple doctors that everything was “normal,” they knew something was off—and that their symptoms were treatable.

Their turning point came when they found a functional medicine doctor (who accepts insurance!) and began hormone replacement therapy. That decision not only improved their health—it reignited their connection and intimacy.

A Registered Nurse for over 20 years, Kate holds both a Bachelor’s and Master’s degree in Nursing and is currently pursuing her Doctorate with a focus on Sexual Wellness. She’s openly shared her story of sexual awakening on various platforms, helping normalize honest conversations around midlife intimacy.

Today, she and Eric are embracing this season with curiosity and play—exploring toys, roleplay, BDSM, adults-only travel, and staying adventurous together.

Kathryn – 46, Phillipines

Admin & Partner Communications

I’m Kathryn Que-Farrales — mom of four (including one angel), wife to my high school sweetheart of 29+ years, and someone who spent decades putting everyone else first. I’ve worn many hats: tech professional, business owner, full-time homemaker — but today, I’m a passionate advocate for hormone health.

For years, I silently struggled. I battled migraines since age 14, was dismissed by doctors, and told my symptoms were “just emotional.” At 43, I was diagnosed with diabetes and severe vitamin D and iron deficiencies. I kept going for my family, but inside, I was exhausted, foggy, and disconnected.

Everything changed when I found WakeHerUp. For the first time, I felt seen and understood. I wasn’t crazy — I was in hormonal chaos. This community helped me take back my health, lift the fog, and reconnect with who I truly am.

Now, at 46, I’m proud to be part of the WakeHerUp admin team — supporting women who, like me, are done being dismissed and ready to rise. I’m not fading. I’m just getting started.

This is what waking up looks like.

My story is like so many others who’ve reclaimed their lives through hormone therapy. At 46, I missed my first period, started gaining weight, had hot flashes, insomnia — and doctor after doctor offered band-aid fixes: IUDs, birth control (even though my husband had a vasectomy), antidepressants, sleeping pills, and the usual “you’re just getting older.”

None of it addressed the root cause.

Eventually, I found a provider who believed in BHRT and took insurance — I thought I hit the jackpot. I started feeling better, but soon realized she wouldn’t go beyond standard guidelines. So I moved to a cash-pay longevity clinic. Their approach gave me energy, but also side effects like hair thinning and an out-of-control libido.

Now, 9 years later, life is fantastic. I’ve fully immersed myself in the menopause and hormone space. I take the same classes as providers — not to prescribe, but to empower women with knowledge they can bring to their own doctors.

It’s an honor to be part of the Wake Her Up community, helping women find the relief and support they deserve.

Heyyyy, I’m Rach—a married mama of two grown boys, stepping into a new season of life filled with growth, healing, and purpose.

Going through perimenopause opened my eyes to how little real support and conversation there is for women like us. That’s why I’m passionate about sharing what I’ve learned, creating space for honest talk, and helping other women feel seen, understood, and better in their own skin.

This chapter is about feeling empowered—not overlooked—and I’m here to walk it with you. HRT changed my life and my marriage.

You don’t have to suffer if you don’t want to.

If something is missing, it’s probably YOU!
